Environmental Policy
Cofinimmo is aware of the need for
concrete actions in order to protect and improve the environment.
Our responsibility is two-fold: on the one hand being a socially
responsible company and on the other hand managing on the long term
an important and diversified portfolio. With that respect,
Cofinimmo developed a global environmental policy stating our major
commitments in the field (see below).
Also, Cofinimmo regularly
participates in national and international surveys (as there is GRESB), disclosing
the sustainability performance of its property portfolio.

ISO 14001:2004 certification
In 2008 the Environmental
Management System (EMS) of 3 representative buildings in the
portfolio was accredited according to the ISO 14001:2004 standard.
EMS certification puts Cofinimmo's environmental policy on a formal
basis and is translated into environmental objectives that are
attainable and measurable by means of specific performance
indicators.
In 2011, Cofinimmo will submit an
application for EMS certification for its entire office
portfolio.
BREEAM (In-Use)
With the aim of obtaining
recognition for its efforts, Cofinimmo submitted an application for
'BREEAM In-Use' certification for 4 office buildings. The results
obtained are:

Risk management
Cofinimmo ensures optimal
environmental risk management and, by extension, helps minimise the
risks incurred by its tenants. It is a key component of our
continuous drive to utilise resources most efficiently and with
respect for the environment.
Initial property inventories
Before acquiring any property, we
carefully examine properties to assess any non-confirming aspects
or detect potential environmental risk. We also conduct a survey to
ascertain the quality of the soil, subsoil and groundwater for any
properties in which potential environmental risks may play a role.
We then work to minimise the risks and to actively remove any
pollution that may already have taken place.
Environmental & urban permits
We secure environmental permits,
issued by the regional authorities, which ensure that Cofinimmo can
operate registered installations for all our buildings. These are
systematically updated in the event of changes in the law or in the
technical installations. On top of that, each building in our
portfolio carries urban permits that certify that any construction
or renovation works conform with legal requirements.
Waste management & cleaning
Cofinimmo tenants are encouraged to
sort their waste. We provide separate containers and offer
appropriate waste collection solutions.
